In 1977, the Dutch architect and monk Dom Hans van der Laan (1904–1991) wrote his manifesto Architectonic Space, in which he combined spatial philosophical concepts with practical design tools. In her lecture, architect Caroline Voet will follow the genealogy and evolution of Van der Laan's design methodology, from his first 1923 design sketches to his Magnus Opus,  the Jesu Moder Marias Convent in Tomelilla, Sweden, which was completed after his death.
Caroline Voet is currently finishing a Phd on Dom Hans van der Laan, at the Associated Faculty of Architecture of the KU Leuven, Sint-Lucas School of Architecture, Ghent-Brussels and the Department ASRO, Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium.
